LABORATORIO LIBERO

The “free” Laboratory, was born in Venice, at the Forte Marghera spaces in 2008. The experience of the Open Workshop, intended as a place of research and training had already been initiated by Paolo Fraternali at the Raphael Academy in Urbino from ’90 to ’99 with international courses of art engraving, and after in Fermignano at the studio of Pier Paolo Calzolari from ’93 to ’95. Together with Stefano Mancini the project continues with “Laboratorio Libero” in the evocative and equipped spaces of Corte della Miniera, Urbino, widening it with stone lithography, offset litho, screen printing and photolithography.

In Venice, at the Forte Marghera spaces they set up a Laboratory of Engraving and Printing Art with non-toxic method, together with Claudio Grassetti and Max Reid. Subsequently Vanessa Milan, Ilaria Mantovani, Federica Montesanto and Gioia Dei Rossi will offer vital support to the enhancement of associative intent.

The goal of these labs is to create a container able to shed light on the various aspects on printmaking: printing techniques (screen printing and lithography), secular incision (woodcut), until get the new excavation methods and non-toxic printing and photopolymer. A laboratory and information exchange. The workshops organized vary between the artist’s book, binding, handmade paper, non-toxic printing, screen printing, engraving and large format printing and lithography.
