Serge d’Urach, one of the artists who joined the Concilio Europeo dell’Arte from the beginning, has just lunched his latest publication: “Shangai 1980-1992-2018“.

The book is the introduction to the exhibition “An Enduring Love Story” that will take place in Beijing at the Swiss Embassy in March 2018: the exhibition celebrates the “love story” between China and the artist, who felt in love with China listening the stories told by his uncle Herman, born in Shangai in 1905. Serge d’Urach started being curious about China and he eventually visited the country many times and studied Chinese.

The exhibition at the Swiss Embassy in Beijing will show D’Urach’s watercolors and most recent sketches. The sketches are all drawn in pencil, then worked with Chinese ink with gouache to highlight the contrast of light and shadow creating a chiaroscuro effect, while the watercolors, painted on antique papers from the 17th-19th centuries, are the results of long and patient work.
