THE EXHIBITION
Curators: Marco Pretelli, Paolo Faccio, Anna Saetta, Marco Savoia
On the occasion of the 16th International Architcture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia the Concilio Europeo dell’Arte presents in his historic seat InParadiso Art Gallery its original project dedicated to the revitalization of the Italian villages – Borghi of Italy.
The theme of the exhibition, in line with the Freespace manifesto of the curators, is the prevention and anti – seismic security in a long period with regards to Italy’s monumental and historic patrimony. The Concilio Europeo dell’Arte thought about a space free of the fear of the earthquake, considering that sometimes we forgot that, throughout the safeguarding and the security of the territory, it is possibile to combat the phenomena of abandonmen and demoraphic decline. The main objective of the “BORGHI of ITALY – #NO(F)EARTHQUAKE” exhibition is to raise public awareness about the theme of “keeping safe” and prevent the borghi of Italy, considering also the case of five italian villages affected by seismic events since 1976: Venzone, San Felice Sul Panaro, Amatrice, Civita di Bagnoregio and Auletta.
The project deals also with the great theme of “resilience”: it is not possible to secure places and their possible reconstruction, but it is necessary to stimulate the restart of all the activities in the territory. In this context, the CEA – Concilio Europeo dell’Arte promotes “BorgoAlive!“, an original initiative which shows to the public the Best Practices for a sustainable revitalization of a village and its surrounding territory.
The exhibition will schedule a cycle of 6 days of conferences, symposia and public debates which will take place in September, October and November. The Concilio Europeo dell’Arte and the conceptual artist Marco Guglielmi translate the theme of “BORGHI of ITALY” in a site – specific artwork inside the InParadiso Art Gallery.
