With these words the Thai artist Navin Rawainchaikul introduces his impressive artistic project created in Rome during his long stay, in the capital and its surroundings, in 2018.
The Concilio Europeo dell’Arte, which already presented his work in Venice in 2011, when Navin was invited to represent his native country at the 54th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia, National Pavilion of Thailand with the exhibition “Navinland – Paradiso di Navin“, is honored of collaborating with the MAXXI Museum for the realization of the artist’s new solo exhibition, entitled “CIAO DA ROMA“, open to the public from 10th March until 02nd May 2021.
An imposing oil on canvas between Bollywood and the Roman suburbs, diaspora and cultural integration, that reinterprets the poster style of the Indian film industry while capturing the South Asian migrant community in its daily life in Rome and its surroundings.
The conceptual project is transferred to canvas through painting but directly evokes the aesthetics of Bollywood cinema, being able to define itself as a multimedia work, through which Navin tells stories of the characters he met along his stay in Lazio and gives life to a large “urban painting” inside the museum. .
The work will become part of the #CollezioneMAXXI.
